Courtney's Headshots

So since, Michelle and I have this great camera, my sister thought that I could take some great pictures of her for a campaign that she ran for a position in a club that she is a part of.  This day I learned, that it isn't the camera that makes the picture, but the one in front of the camera (the subject) and the bumbling fool behind it (the photographer).  The camera is just the means to capture the moment.

The great pictures were results of the BEAUTIFUL subject, not the camera or the fool behind it.  Though this fool, with the help of a real photographer, was able to get the settings right in order to get the right exposure for Courtney.
Shooting in RAW, on a cloudy overcast day.  I made another call to the Zen master to see what I could do to get a little more depth to her face. I had a few problems: A) I really had no idea how I was going to get a picture that Courtney wanted. B) I didn't know (and still don't have much of a clue how to operate my camera) to get to the right settings, C) The things that John told me to do seemed to be in a different language (haha), the settings controls that he suggest I change were labeled differently from what was on my camera, and D) I really have no idea how to do take portrait pictures

This is an especially nice one of Courts

This is rare funny picture of her.  There are some inherent problems on having the photographer  set the camera to  burst mode.

Great shot of her.  Just an odd background.  During this whole process I hear John Norling in my head saying "you need depth, you need to make her face look 3D"

With the tree/bush in the background it makes it look like Courtney has wings

I think we got this one with a flash on. She also looks like she is photo shopped in.  She isn't

"How much Longer?"

I'm as loud as a Lion http://youtu.be/NYWcyRHGFPo?t=1m17s  I think this was taken when I had her rotate around to see if the sun hit her in any amazing way

The sun came out.  Now, there is too much sun causing us to have  really dark shadows on her face

This one was taken, by special request by her husband

Too much shadow

Still too much

Too little and she got the Anderson Squinty eyes

A fair amount of shadow, but the Anderson Squinting problem occurs again

This is when we really start cooking.

Good amount of shadow, but it's a little dark

Darker face.  But I finally understand how to us my white balance to adjust the picture

This one is a Winner

For some odd reason, I decided to focus on the background, and then take the picture

After changing the White balance the next 4 pictures were gold.

Here are some cute shots of Jane.  These were taken with the same settings that I used on to take her mommies headshots

And here is our token picture of William.  He is looking quite buff.
